The purpose of this experiment is to observe plasma structures and to determine whether, for scintillation to occur: - A minimum electron density gradient is required at the edge of a polar cap patch, or other large-scale plasma structure. - A minimum electron density value is required at a steep plasma density gradient. We plan to observe steep density gradients under a range of geophysical conditions. The VHF should observe northwards on tau7 at low elevation (El = 30 degrees, Az = 0). The ESR will use both 32m and 42m dish, on folke, with the 32m dish pointing southwards at low elevation (El = 30 degrees), Az=180). This experiment relies on both radars operating. If the run on the 10th December occurs we will cancel the run on the 13th December.
