EISCAT and Oulu University have jointly opened a RfQ for EISCAT3D buildings to be constructed at three locations in Finland, Norway and Sweden. We received earlier in the week the first PSCU unit from Qamcom AB. This unit is for us to familiarise with the device prior to receiving the first article units.

As part of supplying the EISCAT_3D Skibotn system with power, two transformer huts are being constructed at the site. These huts will house the needed transformers that will feed power to the system. Pro Con Bygg AS won this tender and the construction works should be completed in October.

Due to rapid spread of the coronavirus and the risk of it affecting our staff and local services in Longyearbyen, we have for system- and staff safety reasons, decided to stop all operations on Svalbard effective from 18:00 local time today, 12 March 2020.
The first 32 units of the transmitter system were delivered to the EISCAT test site 10 March 2020. The first article of the E3D receiver, the First Stage Receiver Unit, was recently shipped from the vendor, DA-Design in Finland, to the EISCAT_3D test site in Kiruna.
